The World Premier of The Makeover
Lynda Martini recounts a road trip to the Washington, D.C. area that gave her a chance to listen to a band called Swamp Poodle, have some good food and a few glasses of Prosseco, then see the world premier of a short form documentary film titled The Makeover. The film is about Lynda’s friends, Giselle and Beth. They met when Giselle wanted a male to female makeover and went to Beth, a noted makeup person. One thing led another and they fell in love, Giselle transitioned and two filmmakers followed them around for a few years. Join Lynda as she hangs out with the stars.

Princesses of the Night — Katherine Will Compete for a Golden Lion Award
For the past few months our Correspondent in Columbia, Katherine Diaz, has been studying the art of female impersonation and drag. I Spanish as drag performer is a transformista. Katherine’s blog today announces that after she has been performing for awhile in smaller venues she has been accepted as a performer in the Glardones León Dorado on December 6. In December Katherine’s blog will be about how the competition went and she will have a video.

Time for all the transgender news you can use! It’s The Week In Trans! Today we learn that Brianna Titone has won her election to the Colorado legislature. The new chair of the House Armed Services Committee promises to make sure transgender people are welcome in the military. An organization has compiled a list of all the court cases that can affect transgender people. Colorado is not only adding a trans legislator, they’ve added the option to use X on state ID. A transgender prisoner has won a legal battle with her state. Celine Dion has created a line of gender neutral clothes for kids. Poland’s president wants to erase LGBT people from school curriculums. Trans women in Sumatra get hosed by police. A survey finds that the majority of primary care doctors are willing to treat transgender patients. Dina Amberle serves up another menu full of items that are sure to please. She starts with some thoughts about transgender people who are seen in the media aren’t the only transgender people. Then she stirs in a story about a trans woman who loves to travel, even though traveling can be dangerous to some destinations for someone who is “different.” She also blends in the story of a photographer in France who captured images of trans women in the section called Place Blanche. Then she tops it all off with a dessert woven of knee high socks.

Transgender Book Reviews: “Gracefully Grayson” and “George”
Sophie Lynne, our Page Pundit, reviews two books today. “Gracefully Grayson” is a young adult novel aimed at middle school children. Written by a cisgender female author it tells the story of Grayson, born male but drawn to feminine expression. Grayson wants to play Persephone in the school’s theatrical production. The second review is of a book aimed at younger children. It tells the story of the title character, “George” who would rather be Melissa. Melissa has an opportunity to present herself to the world as her true self and it’s also by playing a female character in the school play.

World Professional Association for Transgender Health: Argentina: Part I
Dr. Dana Bevan is in Argentina for the World Professional Association for Transgender Health Symposium 2018. Far Different Times
Lou Reed sang in Sweet Jane, “Jack is in his corset, Jane is in her vest, And me, honey, I’m in a rock ‘n’ roll band. Huh. Riding a Stutz Bear Cat, Jim, Ya know, those were different times.” And times were different for LGBTQ people before and during World War II. Jack could only wear his corset in the privacy of his home. There was no internet to let people know they weren’t alone. Even into the 1960s and ’70s the difference was evident. And there were no “trigger” words, PC designations, and little understanding of those who were different. Susan Grant lived through it and writes about what it was like.
