Happy New Year
Every major religion has language of peace and love in its traditions. Sadly many so-called Christians have stopped reading the parts of their holy book that speaks of peace and love. Of treating your neighbor as you wish to be treated and helping those who are in need of help. Instead there are Christians who want God to smite those with whom they disagree. They pray for storms and floods to afflict those they see as enemies while ignoring our shared humanity.

With the actors and writers on strike it has gotten difficult to find trans actor news to report. Angela managed to dig up some things. There’s Elliot Page’s new movie, a trans man in Netflix’s hit One Piece, and male actress Charles Busch publishes his memoir.

The Tennessee ban on drag shows can’t be used to shutdown a Pride festival. The reality show Married At First Sight UK adds a trans woman to the contestants. Boston no longer requires applicants for a marriage license to provide their gender. California recognizes August as Transgender History Month. All the attacks on transgender people makes more transgender people run for office. Ithaca New York is a sanctuary city for trans people. Male actress Charles Busch releases his memoir. Dating a Crossdresser
Pam and Luke started dating and soon became a couple. But Pam started to notice things about Luke that made her wonder if he was attracted to the idea of crossdressing. One night after a few drinks she asked if he’d like her to give him a makeover. Luke agreed and with Pam’s help their dates became glamor parties with the two of them dressing up and having fun. Sex in the Transgender Marriage: The Wives Weigh In
Liberty Storer is married to a crossdresser. She first learned of her husband’s crossdressing after they were married. She willingly helped him live his fantasies until she learned of things he did when she wasn’t around. The couple made the decision to forgo sexual activity while continuing to live together. Liberty started a blog that attracted women in relationships with crossdressers or trans women. In 2022 she had her followers participate in a survey about intimacy with their partners. Trans News Now 9/4/23
What’s in the news? Dylan Mulvaney wins a Streamy Award. The case brought by a group of sorority girls against their sorority for letting a trans girl join is dismissed. A Texas judge blocks the ban on drag shows in that state. Another judge in Texas puts an injunction on the state’s ban on gender-affirming care for minors but the state supreme court overturns it. The state of California sues a school district for requiring that parents be informed if their child changes gender in school. Members of Congress attempt to introduce a bill mandating the teaching of progressive sex education including LGBTQ lessons. Indeed not only finds jobs for people but gives cash to cover relocation expenses for trans employees. The Canadian government issues a travel warning for its LGBTQ citizens visiting the U.S., especially those visiting certain U.S. states. Meanwhile Saskatchewan adopts the same kind of educational policies as conservative U.S. states. In India government funding for shelters for trans women stops. Alabama wins its right to pick on trans kids. Spain elects its first openly transgender senator. The Florida Board of Education issues restroom rules that separate the boys from the girls. A study shows that the decline in sales of Bud Light may be because the beer abandoned attempts to show support for the LGBTQ community. Scientific American has an article that refutes the supposed evidence for “Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria.” After Alice Cooper made some anti-trans statements he loses a deal with a cosmetics company. Transgender cyclist Emily Bridges is named to the list of most influential women by British Vogue. Germany approves self-ID of gender. A transgender handy woman does home improvement videos on TikTok.

Sophie Lynne has attended Pennsylvania State University twice. She was present in Happy Valley during the Reagan years but she wasn’t happy. She was holding on to her deep, dark secret. With good reason. Come out as trans back then and there were consequences. Since then there has been more tolerance for LGBTQ people and during her second time at PSU Sophie has seen the new LGBTQ students have many more resources.

Hari Nef stars in streamer Bad Things. 4/5 of all transgender characters in the top 100 films at the box office last year were in just one movie. Elliot Page teases you with a few excerpts of his book Pageboy. The British Government introduces a new policy; they will not issue permits for buildings with gender-neutral restrooms. The trans community in Jordan feels neglected. A Russian transgender blogger is arrested and found guilty of “spreading LGBTQ+ propaganda.” 80% of LGBTQ+ individuals in the U.S. are afraid for their personal safety in the current political environment but most LGBTQ+ people still remain hopeful despite the bullying and stress. Hard Times for Trans People
Rabbah Rona Matlow, like many transgender folks in the USA is feeling stressed over the continuing attacks by right wing politicians on the LGBTQ+s community. If she thought there was any other place to migrate to she would seriously consider going there. But she knows the answer to the situation we’re in. Everyone needs to vote the haters out of the legislatures and replace them with legislators who will repeal the anti-trans laws.

A Republican member of the City Council in Trenton, N.J. tries to educate her party about trans rights. A judge imposes a temporary ban on Idaho’s school restroom policy. The Tennessee attorney general may have violated trans patients civil rights by taking their medical records. Florida requires that students be treated according to the sex on their birth certificate. The Trevor Project is close to insolvency. A trans woman in Alabama runs for the state House of Representatives. Bud Light is still seeing low sales figures from their team up with Dylan Mulvaney but Modelo Especial is the top selling brew in the U.S. and they openly support LGBTQ rights. A recent study shows that most people who have top surgery are pleased with the results. Some would-be patients in England have waited up to 35 years for their first appointment with the NHS gender counselor. Star of Paris is Burning Carmen Xtravaganza passes away. The Museum of Pop Culture removes the name of J.K. Rowling from its exhibits. The World Bank stops making loans to Uganda because of that country’s negative view of trans people. She the first transgender woman of color to perform the National Anthem for a sitting President, Barack Obama, and she is an activist on transgender issues.
