Are you going to use that?

EmmaNov006.jpgDoes anyone purge any more?  Excluding Nicole Ritchie of course.  Do t-girls still purge their wardrobes?  Do wigs and shoes and bras and dresses get thrown in the trash?

I should hope not.  Considering how many resources there are out there, there’s no real need to purge in the 21st Century.  Firstly, consider how many hundreds of thousands, if not millions of T-girl websites there are in existence.  And among those, how many gals have written about the futility of purging?  I’m guessing most.

The message there should be loud and clear: You can throw everything, but who you are, away.  (See previous blog.)

Furthermore, if you are going to hang up your heels, I can think of better options than the dumpster.  There’s the old standby of Goodwill.  (Do T-girls still shop there?)  If you’d like to make some kind of return on your initial investment, and put it all up on e-Bay.  Or, call some friends in the life, or contact your local support group, and give your booty to someone else.

If you insist on getting rid of thousands of dollars worth of femme-wear, you might as well give it to someone who will put it to good use.

Lynne, Girl, don’t ruin my fantasy that in college my wife’s size 5 dresses would fit me. Humor me here girl! 🙂

OK, they might’ve been 7’s – but she was only 5’3″ and 115 if I recall. Today I’m still not real big, 5’6 1/2”, 157. I was waaaay up to 173 at Labor Day and have been trying very seriously ever since to get my weight down to anything in the 140’s, where it should be. Daily exercise, eating smart. My goal is by MLK day, but I won’t beat myself up if I dont’ make it until groundhog day – a pound a week. 🙂

Hmmm. Way back when I started, in the days before email and internet, when advice was a bit harder to come by, I rented a PO Box and found a TS pen pal through the Tapestry personals and I was “mentored” (could you be “womentored?”) by a great lady who made me SWEAR not to EVER bother purging. And of course it was the only time I ever listened to anyone. So through the ebb and flow of CDing I never purged.

But now, a long time later, I have all these really old outfits!! If I had purged a time or two I’d at least have more new clothes to show for it. ;^)

I guess since I got the “no purge” thing down, I could move on to working on my fashion sense. Which means I need help with the age old GG problem, how long do you keep the too small, but really cute size 5’s hanging next to the size 9’s that actually fit while you await the day you lose some weight?
