A bit of a quandry…
My friend Alicia wants me to go to Chicago this June to go to Be-All. The Mrs. and I went in 2004, and had a really, really good time. We hung out with Alicia and her SO, and met Helen Boyd, and the infamous Betty, along with a lot of people I had known online, but had never met.Â
We also saw some friends from Nebraska we hadn’t seen in a while. Generally, I’ve had a good time at conferences. There’s much partying, lots of socializing, and a bit of shopping and other debauchery. (I got my ears pierced while in Chi-town for the Be-All.)
But, here’s the problem. Be-All is held in June. That’s when a lot of cities, like Cincinnati have their Pride celebrations. (And you know how I am when it comes to supporting Pride.)  It’s necessary. Appearances by transgendered folk at Pride will help us gain a little more acceptance among the G’s and the L’s and the B’s. And that’s a first step into solidifying the entire GLBT community as we all fight for acceptance and equal rights.
So, do I go to Be-All, and party with friends? Or do I put my money where my mouth is, and stay home to attend Pride? Decisions, decisions, decisions.
