What Is Your Opinion?

So, the new Forum has been open for 3 months now and it looks to me that it is not as active as the old Forum was. What is your opinion of the user-friendliness of the new Forum? I can re-activate the old Forum with a few keystrokes. The old forum is not integrated with the other features such as your Profile and the messaging alerts, but that is a small issue compared to user-friendliness.

I will bow to the opinion of the majority. What say you?

Actually the forum is very good. But for it to alive and active there has to be well defined observations and opinions that touch on the lives of the people who participate here.

    Hi JoAnn,

I like the new format. It’s clean, uncluttered, and… elegant. I think it’s a good foundation on which to build.

    JoAnn,

I am not a big fan of the new forum. I find it difficult to get around. I liked the old forum.

JoAnn – I was not able to access the old forum but it looked like there were 66 threads there. How many of these did you bring over to the new format. If you started fresh, that may be be part of the problem. When I go to a forum, I peruse the active threads and then comment on those of interest. That’s a self generating way of inducing activity. And since you can also comment separately on each article, that too would likely draw off interest from the discussion boards. It wasn’t until recently that I really started reading what is here, because I participate in so many forums. But you are to be commended because your content is excellent. Just need to continue getting the word out. I’ll help, but I know that it’s difficult getting people to post for many reasons and there is so much proliferation today that breaking through the mob scene can be difficult. Dee levy’s articles are good. I thrive on controversy 🙂

Michelle: I’m sorry I was not clear. Don’t confuse the chat room with the Discussion Boards. That’s what I meant by “forums”.

Jo Ann, not having experienced the “old” forum, I have no reference to judge. I more or less “came out” on TGF before, even
to my family. I have met some lovely people while chatting.
A couple of times I have attempted to chat with individuals but
it seemed like they were not actually present although their
names were “up.” If the “old” was more user friendly then it should be brought back. One question though, will individuals still be able to break away for private chats?
