The Advocate tells us of Don Davis, a Democrat running for re-election to Congress in North Carolina. He is running an ad opposing transgender athletes in women’s and girls’ sports. Erin In The Morning reports on Blake Gendebien, a Democrat running for Congress in New York. Mr. Gendebien is running an ad in which he says that he opposes “boys in girls sports.” For reducing the issue to the point where there is no longer any distinction between a transgender female and a cisgender male, Dan Davis and Blake Gendebien get a TWIT, which they share with Marcy Kastor and other candidates who practice this policy.
The Trump administration has bowed to pressure to restore the “Press 3” option for LGBTQ people to the 988 suicide prevention helpline. However, they are doing so without the Trevor Project, the organization with the most experience in counseling transgender (and other LGBTQ) people away from suicide. For discontinuing this important service to the LGBTQ community, the Trump administration gets a TWIT. The Advocate has this story.
In response to a video supporting gender-affirming care for minors, Elon Musk tweeted, “Those who mutilate children should receive a death sentence.” For reducing the debate about gender-affirming care for minors to surgery, for neglecting the fact that such surgery on minors is very rare, and for ignoring the fact that the surgery produces very few regrets, Elon Musk gets a TWIT.
