As we mentioned in the news, the United States Army is amending its records to show the birth gender of those in the military while at the same time they are moving to dismiss transgender people (and potentially transgender people) from the military. For removing the gender in which the person lives from the person’s records and replacing it with the unnecessary information about their gender assigned at birth, the U.S. Army gets a TWIT. Reuters has this story. ??

A Christian school in Atlanta has forced a student to withdraw, under threat of expulsion, because the student took a transgender person to prom as her date. For violating the command, “Judge not, lest ye be judged, for as ye judge, so shall ye be judged,” North Cobb Christian School gets a TWIT. This story comes from Them. ?

?A bill in Ohio would recognize the weeks between Mother’s Day and Father’s Day as “Natural Family Month.” At least one Republican legislator has admitted that the bill is designed to denigrate LGBTQ+ families, although single parents are also hit. For deliberately targeting LGBTQ+ parents and single parents, the people behind this legislation get a TWIT. The Advocate has this story.??

Melissa Calhoun, a teacher in Florida, lost her job because she referred to a student by a nickname. The student’s parents claim that Ms. Calhoun was “grooming” their child to “become gay” and “transition.” Straight people also use nicknames–to this day, no one knows what Mrs. Thurston Howell’s first name was; her husband always called her “Lovey,” which is clearly a nickname. For associating the use of a nickname with “transitioning” and “becoming gay,” the parents who accused Melissa Calhoun get a TWIT, which they share with the school board who dismissed the AP English teacher. This story comes from Them. ??

U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has introduced a bill to send doctors who treat transgender minors to jail. State legislation banning gender-affirming care for minors typically includes financial penalties for doctors. For thinking that she knows more than doctors and researchers about what medical treatments are effective, and for wanting to put her personal discrimination into law, Marjorie Taylor Greene gets yet another TWIT. This story comes from LGBTQ Nation.
