Officials at D’Iberville High School in Mississippi omitted the pictures of transgender students from the yearbook. The school included what appears to be a digitally-retouched picture of the salutatorian in an ad congratulating him for his “hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence.” The salutatorian, Jonas Hole, is a transman, but his picture made him look more feminine than his usual presentation. The ad also used his deadname. For deliberately misgendering and deadnaming the salutatorian, and for digitally altering his photo, officials of D’Iberville High School get a TWIT. Mississippi Today has this story.
As we mentioned in the news, eight Democrats elected to the U.S. House of Representatives voted with the Republicans to force schools to identify transgender students to their parents. The eight voted for the so-called “Stop Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act,” H.R. 2616, which in fact does not stop indoctrination nor protect kids. For voting with the Republicans against transgender rights, these eight get a TWIT. Erin Reed identifies them at Erin In The Morning.
This week, there was a fatal shooting at a mosque in San Diego, California. David Barton, a Christian nationalist who is known to spread false history, told a Christian broadcast show, Victory News, that the two suspects were transgender. In fact, neither of them is transgender. For rushing to identify the shooters as transgender without checking with those who know them, David Barton and other spreaders of far-right “revised” history get a TWIT. LGBTQ Nation has this story.
