As we mentioned in the news, the Supreme Court voted to allow President Trump to begin implementing his ban on transgender people in the military. Lower courts had noted that the ban was the result of animus, not military necessity, and that it violated the Fourteenth Amendment’s “equal protection” clause. For agreeing to allow President Trump to implement a policy which clearly is based on personal animus and not military readiness, the members of the Supreme Court who voted to allow President Trump to implement this policy get a TWIT. Erin Reed has this story.
In a speech shortly after the Supreme Court announced its decision to allow the implementation of President Trump’s ban on transgender people in the military, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth told a group of special forces operators, “No more dude in dresses, we’re done with that s**t.” For making insulting comments which show a lack of understanding about what is going on, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth gets a TWIT. Two cisgender women were questioned by a male security guard when they used the ladies’ restroom at the Liberty Hotel in Boston. The male staff entered the ladies’ restroom, and the two cisgender women were not allowed to use the ladies’ room. The hotel says that the security guard has been suspended, and that the staff will receive mandatory training on being inclusive. For displaying the silliness behind these restroom policing policies, the security staff of the Liberty Hotel gets a TWIT. This story comes from Them.
This week, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller gave a press conference to mark the first 100 days of President Trump’s second administration. As you might expect, his speech was long on hyperbole and insults, backed by nearly no evidence. He claimed that the Trump administration was putting an end to schools changing students’ gender, which he called “cancerous,” “communist, woke culture,” etc. He did not say how the administration was going to get the Department of Education to put an end to this, but did remind us that the Trump administration is “shutting down” the Department of Education. For a war of words against anyone who dares to disagree with him, and for not backing his insults up with evidence, Stephen Miller gets a TWIT. Erin In The Morning has this story.
The Department of Justice has let it be known that they intend to stop collecting data about crimes against transgender people. They will still collect data about the crime itself, but the fact that the victim was transgender will not be noted. This is supposedly in keeping with President Trump’s policy recognizing only two genders. For announcing that the administration intends to disregard the policy set forth by lawmakers, and for facilitating the transmissions of crimes based on animus against one’s gender identity, the Trump administration gets a TWIT. This story comes from Them.
