As we mentioned in the news, the House of Representatives passed its bill banning transgender athletes nationwide. The bill fails to mention a specific method for resolving a dispute over whether a particular athlete is transgender. The Advocate points out that this bill could open the way for genital inspection for girls whose gender is challenged. For not taking the time to think this through, to see the embarrassing position in which one may be put, and for not listening when this objection was brought out in debate, proponents of this bill get a TWIT.

State officials in Utah have created a vicious circle. New guidelines from the Utah School Activity Eligibility Commission require that transgender girls must be receiving gender-affirming medical care in order to participate in school sports. However, state law forbids minors from receiving gender-affirming medical care. For creating a situation where one has to break the law in order to be eligible to play, the Utah School Activity Eligibility Commission gets a TWIT, which they share with the state legislature and the governor. This story comes from Them.

PsyPost finds that the people who are sponsoring these bills to keep transgender athletes out of women’s sports have expressed little concern for women’s sports otherwise. For failing to stand up for women athletes when they receive less money, or lesser travel and lodging conditions, these people who claim to be interested in women’s sports get a TWIT.

We mentioned in the news how the Montana state House of Representatives passed a bathroom bill which seems to be aimed specifically at two transgender members of the state legislature. That alone is worthy of a TWIT, but state Representative Jedediah Hinkle went further. He justified voting for the measure by saying that the bill was needed to prevent people from “getting off” in the lavatory. For making up nonsense about how people are getting an erotic charge out of the sounds of a public restroom, Montana state Representative Jedediah Hinkle gets a TWIT. Erin Reed has this story.

Representative Nancy Mace demanded that former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley define what is a “woman.” This was during questioning by the House Oversight Committee, a committee which has nothing to do with school sports or restroom usage. For continuing to pound relentlessly on a topic that she herself is not an expert about, and for unnecessary rudeness in general, Representative Nancy Mace gets a TWIT. This story comes from LGBTW Nation.

The Senate Armed Services Committee has been grilling Secretary of Defense nominee Pete Hegseth over some divisive comments he has made and over various acts of his which reflected questionable judgment. Senator Tim Sheehy, a new member from Montana, tried to deflect from the tougher subjects with the question, “How many genders are there?”. When the nominee responded with “Senator, there are two genders,” Senator Sheehy responded with a joke that used a slur against transgender people. For demeaning others, and for trying to distract from tough questions with a question which ignores any argument that seems more complex than a grade-school child can easily understand, Senator Tim Sheehy gets a TWIT. The Advocate has this story.

It seems as though, every week, we give Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene a TWIT. This week, she responded to a couple of videos. First, Libs Of TikTok presented a video of Representative Sarah McBride reading I Am Jazz to a group of children. Representative Greene responded to the video by calling Representative McBride a “child predator.” (This story comes from The Advocate.) Also this week, Representative Greene went into a fit because a transgender college student with cerebral palsy received a double mastectomy. The student, Micah Leroy, wrote about it in a social media post, which caused an overblown reaction from Representative Greene. (This story can be found from LGBTQ Nation.) For misuse of the term “child predator” to the point where it loses its actual meaning, and for overreacting to one transgender person getting a surgical procedure which is not that expensive and which makes him feel much better about himself, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene gets a TWIT.
