Twit Awards for the Week 3/11/24
Joe Rogan, seen here impersonating a potato with beard stubble, blasted Drag Queen Story Hour as a “misuse” of students’ time on his podcast “The Joe Rogan Experience” this week. Rogan, should have a good understanding of misused time. That’s what his podcast is. For not having a clue about Drag Queen Story Hours yet ranting about them we have a Twit Award for him. KOMO News has more.
Bigotry is not just around in the USA. In Greece two trans women were harassed, threatened and had bottles thrown at them while they were minding their own business. Nine people were arrested charged with abuse with bigoted intent. Two others were charged with assault. 12 minors were released. A large Twit Award goes to the whole crowd.
A Fairfax County Public Schools student is suing the school board, saying its policy aimed at protecting the rights of transgender students violates the rights of others and violates the state constitution. This Catholic student makes herself out as the victim and accommodating trans students is at odds with her religious beliefs. What would Jesus say? The lawsuit is being filed by the conservative group America First Legal — founded by former Donald Trump adviser Stephen Miller. A Twit Award goes out to the student and the organization using her.
Doritos has ended a social media campaign with Samantha Hudson, a transgender influencer in Spain. Right-leaning accounts on social media called for a boycott, citing past comments Hudson was alleged to have made on social media. The posts by Hudson were made in 2015 when Hudson was 15. For digging into a person’s past for a mistake the made and using the posts of a juvenile to denigrate the adult in the present we hand a Twit Award to the trolls on X.
Rep. Brenda Landwehr chaired a committee meeting in the Kansas Statehouse last week. The committee was considering bills that would criminalize lifesaving care for children. Just bring these bills, House Bill 2791 and House Bill 2792 harmed transgender kids across the state. A number of advocates and activists, parents and children, gave testimony, sent email messages, wrote opinion columns and made public speeches attempting to educate the committee chair about why access to gender-affirming care is essential for trans kids. Landwehr didn’t listen. Then she expelled prominent LGBTQ+ advocates after one accidentlally knocked over a water bottle, threatened speakers with capitol police, and cut off testimony that offended her. For her lack of empathy and compassion we give Rep. Brenda Landwehr a Twit Award.
