As we mentioned in the news, a federal judge in California has ruled that the state’s policy of forbidding teachers from telling parents that their child has changed genders at school is unconstitutional. While we can see the free speech implications in the law, Judge Roger Benitez seems to have based his ruling on parents’ rights, a policy which assumes that parents are both logical and in possession of knowledge about what will produce the best results for their children. For giving parents extra ability to force their beliefs on their children, Judge Roger Benitez gets a TWIT. The San Francisco Chronicle has this story.

The University of Oklahoma has dismissed the teaching assistant who gave a student a score of zero on an essay in which she referred to transgender people as “demonic.” For siding with a student who used the notoriously unscientific Bible as her resource in a class that is supposed to be studying psychology as a medical science, the administration of the University of Oklahoma gets a TWIT. This story comes from Metro Weekly.

According to the laws, there must be a 60-day period for accepting public comments about the proposed rule before it becomes law. Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. However, is attempting to implement his new rules forbidding gender-affirming care to minors before the public comment time ends. For skipping the time for pubic input, and for bypassing the law, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. gets a TWIT. Erin In The Morning has this story.

John Weiser is an expert on HIV prevention at the Centers for Disease Control. He has worked at the CDC for 14 years. In the last year, he noticed that information about transgender people getting HIV was being removed from the web pages. When he asked about this, he found that discovered that it was a deliberate thing implemented at the request of the Trump administration. He resigned rather than keep this information to himself. For complying with the order to scrub information about how to prevent HIV infection in transgender people, management of the CDC gets a TWIT. This story comes from LGBTQ Nation.
