Coming to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is British drag performer Myra Dubois in her one-woman show Be Well. It’s a sardonic side-eye at the Wellness Industrial Complex. Fans will have to wait till August for Dubois’s nightly appearance at Fringe as the sharp-tongued comedy queen is recovering from her recent Australian tour. After entertaining in Edinburgh Dubois will tour the U.K.
Her website has this information about Myra Dubois, “21st Centenary renascence woman from England’s North, Myra uses her skills as an actress, author, wellness guru, energy worker, Gemini, and (dare we forget) singer, to enrich each member of her audience personally. So popular is Myra’s ‘take-no-prisoners’ style amongst her fans, the ‘AdMyras’, that fighting for front row seats is a frequent occurrence at her shows. Visit her website for upcoming shows.

Jinkx Monsoon, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race and star of stage and screen has landed a role that will be historic. She will be featured in the next season of the British SF show Doctor Who. Monsoon is set to play “a major role” in the show. Goodness, will we get a drag Doctor? No, that role will be handled by David Tennant for three episodes and he will then regenerate into actor Ncutii Gatwas. Showrunner and writer Russell T. Davies said of the addition of Monsoon, “In a galaxy of comets and supernovas, here comes the biggest star of all. Jinkx Monsoon is on a collision course with the TARDIS, and ‘Doctor Who’ will never be the same again”.
Doctor Who will return in November.

Bud Light, now and then, produces unique commemorative cans for fans and for brand influencers, like Dylan Mulvaney. Mulvaney came to fame as a TikTok star doing humorous skits and showing of her bubbly personality, but she saw her followers rise exponentially after she came out as transgender a year ago and started documenting every day “of being a girl.” With 15 million followers of course she got a commemorative beer can with her face on it. This did not sit well with right wing yahoos who feel that drinking Bud Light is a manly activity and the brewer should keep their conservative drinkers in mind. Threatened are we? Noted manly man and deep thinker Kid Rock went so far as to send someone out to buy several six packs of Bud Light that he could shoot up with his assault rifle. In the meantime Ms. Mulvaney has teamed up with Nike to promote their line of leggings and sports bras. Will Kid Rock now shoot up Nike workout wear? Learn more on the controversy from Insider.

Ex-president Donald J. Trump has a habit of showing up for his fundraising rallies to pop music tracks. Often he comes onstage to the sounds of YMCA by The Village People. It’s almost certain he doesn’t know what the song is about. Another track his campaign uses is Twisted Sister’s We’re Not Gonna Take It. No doubt chosen for the message of rebellion—not realizing the rebellion the singer is against is oppressive leaders. Group leader Dee Snider is upset that the extreme right party has co-opted his song. In a recent interview he said, “The band has a concern that the song is being co-opted by the extreme right… and we want to make sure that people still know it’s a song for everybody and it does not represent that selfish micro group.”
In other Snider news, he recently appeared on The Masked Singer inside a female doll costume in high heels, sexy pencil skirt, and corset. Here’s a video of his interview.
