Crossdressers who haven’t gotten to shopping en femme tend to try and do their shopping on the down low. They often feel they must have some excuse to offer the sales staff for purchasing feminine attire. Of course the only justification you need for buying women’s clothing is the money in your wallet but early on it’s hard to walk up to the cash register and just buy that dress. Jan Brown found a compilation online of the top ten excuses CDs use when they shop.

Here they are:

  1. My wife gave me this list of items to pick up for her.  Sure hope I got everything.
  2. These are for my girlfriend, for (insert occasion here).
  3. You mean to tell me that this is woman’s bra? Oh, well, I already have my money out, so just ring it up.
  4. This is my Halloween costume. Yes, I know Halloween is a long way off but I like to prepare well in advance.
  5. I lost a bet and have to show up at the sports-bar in this nightgown.
  6. I lost a bet on the last game and have to show up at the office wearing this.
  7. Hey, don’t you know that in Scotland these are called kilts? Are you making fun of my heritage?
  8. I’m very shy and these heels will help boost my self-confidence.
  9. I lost a bet with my wife, so I have to do her chores for a week.
  10. I’d love to tell you why I’m buying this lingerie at Victoria’s but it’s her Secret.

I used to say that I was acting in a new play as a Transvestite and was busy putting a whole outfit together. This often intrigued the sales girls, to the extent that they would often go to some trouble to be of help.

Nowdays I don’t bother; I just go and buy what I want

Best time to go clothes shopping is just before Christmas. The salespeople never pay any attention.

I have found that the older I get the more comfortable I am shopping for femme items. Sure there is the occasional “look” from other shoppers, but then again maybe it is that they are “just looking”, who knows. Now as far as excuses, I have found that if there is an awkward moment at the check-out I simply ask for a gift receipt and it always seems to settle the air.

I find that most sales people are glad to take your money and have never been asked by one about the cloths that I purchase, so no excuses are needed. But one I have in the back of my mind if needed is my sister in another state needs cloths and they are less expensive here, so I mail them to her. Most of the time the sales clerk, especially women clerks, compliment the choices I have make. Enjoy spending your money! Now I have not shopped very often in a “just for women store”, but did receive good service at a Cato store.

I stopped using excuses a while ago. Now I take pleasure in telling them it is for me. Never had a negative comment maybe a weird look. Really who cares has long as the CC is good or the cash works.
