The Award Winning David de Alba
Friend and contributor to TGForum, David de Alba, is known to his fans as The Cuban Legend. Part of David’s act was inspired by a well known Cuban singer named Olga Chorens. She and her husband had an act called Olga & Tony.
Last week David de Alba brought his Judy Garland tribute show back to the stage of The Onyx Theatre and played to a sold out house. David was just honored with two awards. One was given to him onstage at The Onyx and was for presenting his Judy Garland Act for 50 years on many different stages around the country. The other came in a call after the show from his inspiration, Olga Chorens. She sent him a signed certificate for his accuracy and devotion in portraying her through his Boy Chic character. We hereby present David the award in cyberspace. He is pictured here holding the certificate. I was there, and the mix of numbers from so many of Judy’s movies was spectacular.
David’s show contained some wonderful anecdotes from Judy’s life and other celebrated stars.
David also sang a sweet song just to me and it was very touching. Such a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
