Today we learnt that 23 state Attorneys General join a lawsuit against the Trump administration’s new definition of “sex” in the ACA. Only three members of the U.S. military were considered for discharge because of the president’s ban and none were discharged. The Pentagon policy banning the Confederate flag also bans the rainbow flag and trans pride flag from military bases. A Roma sex worker is running for office in Romania. Legal wrangling over trans rights continues. A trans woman is running for the Florida state Senate. A Catholic hospital has refused to do a hysterectomy for a trans man in Maryland. World Rugby may ban trans players based on a study that maintains lower testosterone doesn’t cause trans women to lose muscle mass and strength. Bob the Drag Queen challenges Dave Chapelle to stop makes jokes about trans people. Actress Angelica Ross returns to her roots hosting the third TransTech Summit. TWIT time! A trans woman has become the first one to every win an election in West Virginia. An openly transgender police officer on the Chicago force is featured in an interview. Many ripples are passing through the legal pond after the SCOTUS ruling on Title VII. Laverne Cox is interviewed on Today about her new documentary Disclosure. Black Lives Matter protests feature black trans women. San Francisco’s Transgender District almost shut down due to lack of funds. The Stonewall Inn is also in financial trouble. The Trump administration is still bent on taking away transgender people’s rights. A Baptist minister came out to her congregation on a Zoom service. Candidates who oppose transgender rights are losing elections around the country. Four authors fire their literary agent who represents J.K. Rowling. A lawsuit against the Secretary of Defense over a trans woman’s military service is dropped when she is given a waiver allowing her to continue to serve. After being forced to drop coverage for transgender rights the Jacksonville City Council passed the changes again. A 99-year-old vet of WWII raises money for LGBTQ youth. The Los Angeles Pride parade is canceled because of the pandemic but now a march along the parade route will be held on June 14 as part of the protest marches. Three trans women candidates are running for office in Vermont. A woman who founded a high tech company writes about being a trans woman in the tech industry. Lilly Wachowski speaks to The Hollywood Reporter about the how her and her sister being trans influenced The Matrix. How much prize money has been handed out on RuPaul’s Drag Race? The US Department of Education says trans female high school athletes violate the rights of cisgender athletes. A teenage dancer holds the trans pride flag while performing on TV. Gavin Grimm has graduated and moved on but his case moves back to Circuit Court for an appeal by the school board. Mj Rodriguez and Zaya Wade are named women of the year. Trans Maryland has a new program that will pay the cost of a name change in that state. Being Bucky is a children’s book about a transgender chicken. Georgina Beyer is awarded Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit. A Columbian trans woman model goes viral with a photo of her kissing her pregnant husband’s baby bump. It’s The Week In Trans! Today we learn that Elon Musk has apparently taken the “red pill.” Joe Biden vows to protect civil rights for LGBTQ people. A trans woman was denied a job at a chain restaurant because of her gender. The Puerto Rican legislature approves its civil rights code, but there may be a problem. Victor Orban makes “birth sex” mandatory on IDs. Idaho would like to start enforcing its ban on changing birth certificates for transgender people so they have asked a judge to say it’s okay. They didn’t get satisfaction on another issue as the Supreme Court refused to stop a prisoner in Idaho from getting state paid GCS. Pop singer Demi Levato declares “Trans rights are human rights!” Ten trans women who made a dangerous journey through Central America and Mexico to seek asylum in the U.S. have won their case. The LDS ministerial handbook encourages transgender members to participate but in their birth gender. Legislatures continue to try and limit transgender athletes.
