My most recent event was the “Moving Transgender History Forward” in Victoria, British Columbia.  All academic, nothing flashy, but a total learning experience.  It drew over 460 people live, and over 60 countries viewing.  The team was AWESOME and very professional at all times. I learned a ton, and will return in 2025 to do it for the second time.  Panels were wide-ranging and simple to relate to for all.  Getting around the University of Victoria was not a problem. No language barriers, and they treated me FIRST CLASS.  Yes it is a place to make new friends and contacts.  I gained a ton seeing the archive center of  so many things I forgot about.  Please add it to your bucket list to look into in 2025.

At UCLA there is a major research group called the Williams Institute, which is part of the School of Law.  They do research on all kinds of LGBTQ issues and more throughout the year.  On April 14 they held their annual conference and gala with all sorts of activity.  I attended the panel discussions, a moot court debate and reception.  They were honoring Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Jessica Xavier for their lifetime work of pushing the envelope.  I had been there before, so I saw lots of people I had been around in the past, and even a medical student who saw me in Montreal at WPATH last fall.  This was a challenge for me, but I knew it was a place to be seen again.
