Out & About: Georgi’s Alibi — St. Petersburg, Fla.

On Friday, December 28, 2012, my girlfriends and I gathered at Georgi’s Alibi in St. Petersburg. Georgi’s is a place I had never been to but I heard great things about. So of course my adventurous side said  “I have to go there,”

The weather was working against me though, it was a nasty, rainy night but nothing was going to deter me. This was a special night, Pandora Boxx, one of my favorite RuPaul’s Drag Race Girls was performing, so there was no way in hell I was going to miss it despite having a bad hair night.

I pulled up right at nine hoping there was a valet. Unfortunately there wasn’t so I put on enough hair spray to choke Brett Michaels and ran for the door in 4 inch open toe heels. Surprisingly, I didn’t trip or get totally soaked.

Several girls were already there. They had been there before and knew about the great happy hour and forgot to mention that to their hostess, who’s all about a great happy hour. Apparently, it lasts til 10 so we were able to catch the last hour which actually worked out great. I quickly made a round of greeting hugs, ordered a drink then ran to the bathroom to fix my hair. I was kind of surprised how busy it was for being so early however the other girls told me it’s a popular place. Georgi’s is about an hour from my house so I don’t generally go out in that area, especially if I’m going to drink. I would describe Georgi’s as an upscale sports and video bar. There is an excellent mix of friendly people, good food and inviting atmosphere.

The show coordinator, Stephanie Shippae came by and said “Hi” to us around 9:30, she is a very friendly, well known local performer. By that time most of the girls had arrived. Our bartender, Sara was awesome. She did a great job of balancing our orders and the other patron’s while being social and friendly, which isn’t always easy as a bartender. Some of the girls ordered food which they all said was very good. I did not eat simply because I’m always trying to fit into something skimpy — however I did look good.

Around 10:30ish, everyone moved toward the stage for the show. Pandora Boxx was just incredible! I’d go see her again. The crowd was not disappointed at all. She was funny, beautiful and connected well with the audience.

After the show everyone returned to our spots at the bar. I wanted a pic with Pandora but I waited at the bar til everyone had their chance. Why wait in line when you can have another drink, right?  While we waited we took a bunch of group pix, socialized and traded cleavage secrets.

After about an hour, there was no line so I went over for a pic and to meet Pandora. We chatted for a quick second. She was very nice then we took a pic which came out awesome.

Over 25 girls came out for the event, I was surprised that we even had out of state girls come so I guess the word is getting around that it’s a good time.  As a group, we went are separate ways around 12:30ish, some to other local hot spots and party animals like myself went home. Overall, it was a great night despite the weather. The venue was great with their number of bars, the patio, pool tables, game room, dance floor and stage area and there staff was wonderful. Parking could have been better. However if it had not been raining it wouldn’t have been an issue. Maybe I’m just being a Diva. A number of girls I know go to Georgi’s regularly which assures me you won’t be disappointed if you go. Definitely check out there website for Happy Hour info and other specials as well as events. My opinion on GEORGI’S ALIBI definitely GO if you’re in St. Petersburg, however don’t take my word for it, check out what my girlfriends had to say about it and see more pix at our Meetup site.  If you’re coming to Florida, you’re invited to join us for a night out.
