Our Lady J was born in Chambersburg, Pa. and entered show biz through music. She studied piano as a child and after moving to New York became an accompanist for singers, eventually landing the job of musical director and accompanist for the Broadway performer Natalie Joy Johnson. Music led to writing and that led to acting in Transparent and Pose, along with appearances as herself on RuPaul’s Drag Race.
