It’s Dr. Veronica Vera
Veronica Vera, Ph.D.
The founder of the first training school from crossdressers in the U.S., Veronica Vera, has been awarded an honorary doctorate. It’s not, however, as a result of her work training CDs in the feminine arts at her Finishing School for Boys Who Want to Be Girls. This honorary doctorate is from the Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco and is being given to Ms. Vera and three other women who are all members of a porn star support group called Club 90. (That’s right Dr. Vera had a career in adult films.) All of the club members have achieved acclaim in diverse fields of human sexuality.
The other members of Club 90 are Jane Hamilton (a.k.a. Veronica Hart), Candida Royalle and Gloria Leonard. (Ms. Leonard passed away in January of this year and receives her doctorate posthumously.) Annie Sprinkle is another member of Club 90 but she earned her doctorate from the Institute in 2002.
Congratulations to Veronica Vera and the other members of Club 90. Be sure to call her Dr. Vera when you see her in the classroom.
