I want my MTV

Yeah, I’ll admit it.  I’m old enough to remember when MTV still showed videos.  Good or bad, it was those same music videos that helped shape my fashion sense…

Or the lack thereof.  And even today, I get a kick out of watching VH1 Classic.  (They aren’t on every cable system.)  It brings back a lot of memories.

For a while, I was able to compile a number of videos on tape that featured gender-bending in one shape or another.  I’ve long since lost the tape, but I remember it had a couple of RuPaul’s first efforts, the guys from U2 in drag, and Faith No More covering Lionel Ritchie, surrounded by drag queens.  I tried, but couldn’t get a copy of The Odds “Heterosexual Man“, because there’s some fantastic transitioning going on there.

I have this memory, and I’m not sure if it’s real, or imaginary, of a Bonnie Tyler video, “If You Were a Woman, and I Was a Man”, that, well, blew me away.

I haven’t found that since seeing it, (or imagining it in ’83), but for those of you without VH1 Classic, I did find a big online catalog of music videos: HERE.

It has Aerosmith’s Dude Looks Like a Lady, Lou Reed’s Walk on the Wild Side, and Shania Twain’s Man, I Feel Like a Woman.  But it’s missing Scissor Sisters Filthy-Gorgeous, and there’s nothing by David Bowie.   It does have a couple of clips from Culture Club,

What other TG events in music videodom have I missed?
