It’s Monday and here we are with new content. This Monday we are without Ronnie Rho. Don’t panic! Ronnie is taking a leave of absence in the News Editor area but she will still be around to comment on things and throw a post into the mix now and then. And, when she’s rested, relaxed and ready to rock she’ll be back with TWIT. In the meantime I’ll be doing double duty and handling the TWIT chores. To make my life a little easier I’m bringing back an old TGF tradition. Way back when, before the word Google had ever been heard by humans, the Editor of TGF would accept news items from the readers. Back then you had to send the entire text and you would get a mention for sending the story along. If you come across a story just send me the link and I’ll add it into TWIT and mention your contribution. Remember, it’s The Week In Transgenderism so don’t send in something from a month or two ago. We gotta keep our TWIT fresh.
In TWIT today we’ve got items as diverse as a media kerfuffle over children being taught gender diversity; the TG widow in Texas loses her court fight and is now due back in court on theft charges; drag has become a standard fundraising tool; two actors who were not TGs but were connected to TG films have passed away; Japan is loaded with “male daughters,” and, there’s a whole lot more. To get all the TG news you need don’t forget your TWIT.
Dallas Denny joins us this week with an article about the terminology of the transgender world. If you recall we published a notice regarding a survey that Dallas, Jamison Green and Jason Cromwell had undertaken. The survey was a redo of one they originally took back in the late ’90s. Feeling that things have changed a lot since then the trio decided it was time to do another survey about the terms we use to define ourselves and what we’d like people to use when they refer to us. Check out The Names We Call Ourselves.
Back in the wild and wooly Gay ’90s — not the 1890s, the 1990s, Linda Jensen got up to some interesting, to say the least, stuff. We are extremely fortunate that she didn’t do too much drinking that might have caused memory loss because her tales of that time are highly entertaining and more than a bit naughty. Linda joins us this week with another recounting of an encounter — with Barbie and Ken. And it happened in a straight singles bar. Oooo, tell us more! Read all about it in Ken and Me (And Barbie Makes Three).
The U.S. Office of Personnel Management has issued clarifications of how transgender Federal workers must be treated. Read New Protections For Federal Workers to get the news.
The Philadelphia Trans-Health Conference is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. The Conference runs from June 2 – 4th at The Pennsylvania Convention Center. Read the article for more information.
That’s our new, fresh content for today. Enjoy!
