Every year around this time our own Sophie Lynne treks to central Pennsylvania for something of a spiritual retreat. She’s been doing it for the past seven years. Her destination is Harrisburg and her goal is to mix and mingle with her trans sisters and brothers at the Keystone Conference. This year was no different and Sophie was there and filed this report.
Kristyn King spent the end of last week attending the Keystone Conference in Harrisburg, Pa. She shares some of her impressions today and over 20 of her photographs in a photo gallery from the event. One of the things she mentions as a big positive for the event is the supportive management and staff at the host hotel.

“Religious fascists outflank and out gun LGBT activists.” That’s what Babs Casbar Siperstein believes happened in Charlotte, NC when they tried to pass an anti-discrimination ordinance. The Southern Comfort Conference, traditionally conducted in Atlanta, Ga. has decided to move further south to Fort Lauderdale, Florida for their 25th anniversary. 2014 was on balance a very good year for transgender people in America. As a trans activist there was much to celebrate for our movement and even the most negative happenings had a silver lining and gave hope for future progress. In Part 1 of this year end summary I reviewed the many positive things that occurred on a national level, mostly thanks to actions by the Obama Administration with input from our trans activists and policy people.
