Dana Bevan was called upon to help put together a course to educate police officers about transgenderism. The course was being developed by the Department of Justice and was slated to be rolled out to police departments around the country. Dana participated in a trial run of the course in Atlanta but then, after being told to wait for contact from the DOJ, she heard nothing. Today she explains what was being done and asks if any of our readers know if the course is still being considered.

Every year around this time our own Sophie Lynne treks to central Pennsylvania for something of a spiritual retreat. She’s been doing it for the past seven years. Her destination is Harrisburg and her goal is to mix and mingle with her trans sisters and brothers at the Keystone Conference. This year was no different and Sophie was there and filed this report.

2014 was on balance a very good year for transgender people in America. As a trans activist there was much to celebrate for our movement and even the most negative happenings had a silver lining and gave hope for future progress. In Part 1 of this year end summary I reviewed the many positive things that occurred on a national level, mostly thanks to actions by the Obama Administration with input from our trans activists and policy people.
