(Another) Super Hero For Us

Captain Cross DresserA few months ago we reported on a film called Catalina that featured a crossdressing super hero as the title character. As far as we can determine the film has been completed but hasn’t found distribution so we’ll just have to wait to see it. In the meantime the website Funny or Die has scooped Catalina in the crossdressing super hero department by presenting an animated web series called Captain Cross Dresser.

There are only three eight minute webisodes of Captain Cross Dresser at this time but more could be in the works if the super hero catches on. The plot has Donald Campton, a mild mannered accountant, consulting his therapist about his crossdressing. Donald gets dressed during the session and his/her awesome powers are revealed after Donald slips into a Donna Karan knit that he carries for emergencies.

Being animated is an advantage since you can draw your hero anyway you want and when Donald transforms into the luscious Captain Cross Dresser they don’t need a whole special effects department to make him go from a pear shaped, dull male to a hot, well endowed female. Since Donald and The Captain are voiced by comedy veteran Fred Willard it’s a lot better for us that the series is animated. Fred Willard on screen in a dress might not be such a good idea. (We kid Fred but his legs aren’t what they once were.)

The therapist who tells Donald that he must find a use for the powers he has been given is voiced by Carl Reiner and other well known showbiz folks are involved in the production.

How does Captain Cross Dresser treat us? Not badly. Take a look at the webisodes and make up your own mind but my opinion is that the Captain is fun and may have a long crime fighting career. She’s a lot prettier and less gloomy than Batman and not anywhere near as introspective as Spider Man. Plus, she gets off a few good one liners in the course of her adventures.
