Yippee- it’s Pride!

As I type this, it is June 1, 2024: the first day of LGBTQ+ Pride Month here in the US. As you can imagine, reader, the MAGAts and faux evangelicals are losing their minds over it. It seems that every year, their outrage gets worse. This is by design, as the GQP and the various anti-LGBTQA Hate groups that fund them (funny how they mostly have names including either the words “freedom” or “family” in their names) continuously ramp up the hate to make their minions see us as less than human. I’ll come back to this.

In any case, welcome to Pride! Brought to you by the following corporate sponsors who don’t give a flying f**k about us in reality. Rainbow logos Obviously, none of these are real businesses- they exist in various movie/comic/book franchises (bonus points if you can name them all.) But the meme is correct in its point. For example, Target is afraid to display Pride merchandise at all its stores due to death threats. That’s right- the “Pro-life” people are upset over rainbow shirts.

Pride makes a lot of people happy. After all, as the old saying goes, everybody loves a parade. Philly Pride march is tomorrow June 2. State College Pride Parade is June 8. This is despite the FBI and DHS saying “Foreign Terrorist Organizations and their Supporters Likely Heighten Threat Environment during 2024 Pride Month.” Know what? I’m not afraid of ISIS or any foreign groups attacking Pride events. I’m far more worried about domestic terrorist groups, such as Proud Boys, Neo – Nazis (sorry, redundant there), various “family” groups, and, of course lone MAGAts just itching to shoot themselves a fa**ot. Want to know their dark little hypocritical secret? They’re absolutely turned on by transgender women, and hate us for it. Want proof? See the charts below compiled by lawsuit.org. That said, the only scholarship I could find on the topic is six years old and states “…analysis revealed an unhypothesized direct influence of sexual shame on attitudes toward transgender people such that higher levels of shame were associated with greater prejudice” (Billard, 2019, p. 45). (That’s old data though–before the GQP was obsessed with our “eradication.”)

Project 2025 wants to label our very existence as ‘pornographic’ and threatening to children, which to them is punishable by execution.

“[The next conservative Administration] should also pursue the death penalty for applicable crimes—particularly heinous crimes involving violence and sexual abuse of children—until Congress says otherwise through legislation.⁴⁵”. (p. 554).

Oh, what does the footnote say? “This could require seeking the Supreme Court to overrule Kennedy v. Louisiana, 554 U.S. 407 (2008), in applicable cases, but the department should place a priority on doing so.” (p. 576)

It reads “Sentencing a defendant to death for any crime other than homicide or crimes against the state is unconstitutional per se under the Eighth Amendment.” (“Kennedy v. Louisiana, 554 U.S. 407 (2008)”)

So. Connect those dots. Less than Human. But it’s ok for them to enjoy transgender porn. Hypocrite, thy name is GQP.

What do I think of Pride? Well, call me “Debbie Downer” as I’m not a huge fan. LGB gets to celebrate Pride, parading in speedos and feathers and sequins which really sets off the straights. That’s fine- they currently have equality in all things (until SCOTUS overturns Obergefell). The T is around fifty years behind them in rights and acceptance. After all, we’re the ones being targeted just for existing. I have often said and written that LGB get to celebrate Pride, while Transgender people mourn their dead on TDOR.

Still, it makes a LOT of people happy, and gives the community visibility. It inspires people. That is ALWAYS a good thing. I just hope that when the GQP comes for us transgender people, the LGB will be fighting alongside of us, instead of “painting target[s] on our backs” (Washington Post, 2018, para. 2).
