TWIT Awards – Sept 22, 2024
As we mentioned in the news, the Republican Party of Texas has unvailed their new ad, which accuses Democrats of supporting “sex changes for kids.” Of course, the Democrats are not pushing for all kids to get sex changes, only thise which a diagnosis of gender dysphoria, and even then, only when they understand what they are about to go through. For distorting their opponent’s position, to the point of presenting a straw man argument, and for using support for the most effective treatment for gender dysphoria as a negative in order to stir up votes from te easily fooled, the Republican Party of Texas gets a TWIT. This seems to be a growing theme. According to an article in Them, ads attacking Democratic candidates for support of transgender individuals are popping up on television. One particular ad claims that “even the liberal media was shocked” at how far Kamala Harris went with her suoort for transgender rights. For tapping into prejudice on the part of voters, those who use anti-transgender political ads get a TWIT.
Michelle Morrow, the Republican candidate for North Carolina School Supeerintendent, made the claim that the “+” in “LGBTQ+”n is for “pedophilia.” That is not the meaning of the “+”. According to the Human Rights Campaign, it stands for the “limitless sexual orientations and gender identities of our commnity.” For creating a lie in order to spread hatred and disttrust of a group, Michelle Morrow gets a TWIT. It was revealed this week that North Carolina Republican candiddate for Governor Mark Robinson left comments on a port site in which he described himself as a “Black Nazi,” said he loves transgender port, and described slavery as “not that bad.” Now, we must be careful here, as he has denied that he left these messages, and it really makes little sense for one who wishes to be a political candidate to leave such messages. (Mind you, many politicians do and say things that are not logical.) If Mark Robinson did make these comments, he gets a TWIT for volunteering that he sees transgender people as sexual objects. If these comments are not his, then whoever left the comments in his name getss a TWIT, for deliberate misinformation. The Daily Beast has this story.
