The Colorado Republican Party sent out a June email which acknowledged that June is Pride month, but also called LGBTQ+ people “godless groomers” and said “God hates fags.” According to St. John, “God is love,” and love cannot create hate. For bad theology, and for trying to read their own prejudices onto God, as well as for general mean-spiritedness and a lack of understanding of the sources of gender identity and sexual orientation, the Colorado Republican Party gets a Twit Award. LGBTQ Nation has this story.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox declared June the month for “Bridge Building.” More specifically, he wants to build a bridge which would connect LGBTQ people and their allies with “those who do not identify with, celebrate or support Pride celebrations” on the basis of being marginalized. For encouraging LGBTQ+ people to join those who want to suppress our rights and treat us as second-class citizens, Utah Governor Spencer Cox gets a Twit Award. This story comes from LGBTQ Nation.

DJ Akademiks gave Sean Combs some advice for dealing with the video of him getting violent with his then-girlfriend. The second idea he mentions is to say he is getting help for a mental-health problem, which might work if it is accurate. The third idea is to blame it all on having been “touched as a child.” But the first idea was to “tell the whole world that he’d been gay, or been bi, or that, really, he always identified as a woman.” For implying that being trans is an excuse for physical abuse of an intimate partner, and for totally ignoring the fact that trans people are more likely to be the victims of violence from an intimate partner rather than the perpetrator of violence towards an intimate partner, DJ Akademiks gets a Twit Award. L’app is a dating app for lesbians. More specifically, it is for lesbians who are quite uninterested in transgender females. L’app uses facial recognition to exclude transgender women from their user base. For marketing itself to TErFs, and for relying on the less-than-perfect software to help them promote their prejudice, the people behind L’app get a Twit Award. This story comes from Them.

As we mentioned in the news, the Conservative party in the U.K. have announced that they will rewrite the Equality Act in order to exclude transgender people from places designed for a single sex. As we mentioned in the news, they do not seem to know how to accomplish this, while keeping other aspects of the Equality Act in tact. Still, the Conservative party seems to want to exclude transgender people, and they seem to want to run on that exclusion. For writing their prejudices into law, and for making that prejudice a reason to vote for them in the upcoming election, the Conservative party gets a Twit Award. PinkNews has this story.

This week, another supposed comedian used transphobia in a failed attempt to get laughs. Rob Schneider has seen his movie career disintegrate before it even got off the ground. Apparently, he can still be hired for events, and his fee was within the budget for a Canadian medical non-profit. His attempts at humor were sexist, and included anti-vaccine jokes which were both unfunny and also totally inappropriate for the setting. And yes, he also did anti-transgender material. Rather than entertain his audience, his entire act made the audience uncomfortable. For unfunny and inappropriate material, and for showing a sexist and anti-transgender side, Rob Schneider gets a Twit Award. This story comes from LGBTQ Nation.
