Dylan Mulvaney

We mentioned in the news that Dylan Mulvaney has a deal with Anheuser-Busch. This upset the people one would expect would be upset, including Kid Rock, who shot up several cans of Bud Light with his assault rifle. While an argument can be made that Dylan Mulvaney is overexposed, and that other people deserve some share of recognition, that is not the argument being made by opponents of her deal. For getting upset far too easily, critics of Dylan Mulvaney get a Twit Award. For buying the beer in order to shoot the cans in his video, Kid Rock gets a separate Twit Award, recognizing his financial support of the brand precisely because of its sponsorship of a cause he opposes. The Hill has this story.

Caitlyn Jenner

Caitlyn Jenner complained about “woke” companies teaming with Dylan Mulvaney. In addition to Anheuser-Busch, she also cited Nike, whose leggings Ms. Mulvaney endorses. Ms. Jenner launched a new Political Action Committee, “Fairness First,” to “fight the radical gender ideology, to put parental rights at the forefront of education and keep boys out of women’s sports.” Ms. Jenner also sang the praises of Donald J. Trump, despite the fact that the former president betrayed her and all transgender people by his sudden and complete change of direction on the matter of transgender rights after he was elected. For siding with people who refuse to accept transgender people in their true genders, and for endorsing the person whose anti-transgender actions sparked the anti-transgender legislation, Caitlyn Jenner gets a Twit Award. This story comes from Fox News, who of course sides with Ms. Jenner.

Marjorie Taylor Greene denies that trans people experience discrimination. But, as LGBTQ Nation points out, many of the items in her list are actually ways in which transgender people experience subtle discrimination. Her first example is that transgender people can get driver’s licenses, but she fails to note that trans people often get driver’s licenses which misgender them. For failing to note the problems transgender people face, Marjorie Taylor Greene gets a Twit Award.

A few weeks ago, a whistleblower gave a very bad view of what is going on at the Washington University Transgender Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Many parents of transgender patients there said that the whistleblower’s report was nothing like their own experience. Now, Caroline Miller, a mother whose transgender child was a patient at the clinic, spoke to Emily Yoffe of the Free Press. It seems like Caroline Miller was never really on board for her child’s gender transition, as seen in the fact that she still refers to her transgender daughter as her son, and uses male pronouns despite the daughter’s preference for gender-neutral pronouns. Despite style-books saying journalists should use the pronouns that the person wishes, not continue the mother’s misgendering. Yoffe claims that the misgendering is for the sake of clarity. Well, there is a certain amount of clarity going on here–it is getting clear that Caroline Miller is not an authority on what her child is feeling, even though she presents herself as such. For stepping into an obvious family dispute, for taking a side without properly examining the other side, and for making up a reason to not follow journalistic style, Emily Yoffe gets a Twit Award. The Advocate reports that the child, Alex, has reactivated their Twitter account, in order to tell their side of the story.

Daniel Radcliffe has often shown support for transgender people. This has led some transphobes to conclude that Daniel Radcliffe’s girlfriend, Erin Darke, is transgender. Many anti-transgender types, who proclaim that they can “always tell” who is transgender, proclaimed that indeed, they could tell that Erin Darke is transgender. For a laughably silly argument, made even sillier by the fact that Ms. Darke is currently pregnant, everyone who supports this theory shares a Twit Award. LGBTQ Nation has this story.
