Tucker Carlson has been a strong proponent of gun ownership, urging people to take up arms as a show of strength. However, when a story recently revealed a rise in gun ownership among transgender people, he referred to the story as “not the exercise of the Second Amendment,” but rather “political hysteria.” In typical conservative hyperbole, he claimed that this would lead to transgender people with fighter planes and tanks. For an obvious double standard, and for saying the quiet part about his own secret desire out loud, Tucker Carlson gets a Twit Award. The Daily Beast has this story.

Houston County in Georgia decided that paying an extra $10,000 in order to cover gender-affirming medical care for a deputy was too much. Instead, they are now paying roughly $1,200,000 in legal fees to defend this decision in court. For using public funds to promote prejudice, and for making the citizens of the county pay extra for bad management policies, the leaders of Houston County, Georgia get a Twit Award. Outkick has a story about an argument in social media between pro golfer John Peterson and transgender golfer Hailey Davidson. Mind you, neither really shows a great grasp of what leads to golfing success, other than a whole lot of practice, and yet, Peterson keeps repeating that strength beyond what a woman has is a key to success. John Peterson nevertheless gets called the winner of this argument by a writer for Outkick. In a headline for another story, Outkick said, “Transgender Woman Wins Female Cycling Event In NYC, The 16th Victory Of The 46-Year-Old Man’s Career.” Another story in Outkick talked of a female cyclist retiring rather than facing transgender women as competitors. For systemic prejudice, and for rushing to a conclusion without bothering with the pesky evidence thing, Outkick and writer Mark Harris get a Twit Award.

Dr. Steven Hotze was testifying to the Texas State Senate, trying to present a case in favour of anti-transgender legislation. State Senator Jose Menendez took exception to the doctor constantly saying that transgender people are pedophiles. Dr. Hotze replied, “Anybody that sexualized children is a pedophile.” State senator Menendez went on to say that he had transgender people on his staff, and that the accusation was very hurtful to them. Dr. Hotze said, “That’s what they are.” State Senator Menendez then said that transgender people are “living their true selves,” to which Dr. Hotze replied, “That’s bulls**t.” At that, he was told that his choice of words was unacceptable, and he was done testifying. For a very poor argument with little to support it, and for refusing to either listen to others or to even tone down his language, Dr. Steven Hotze gets a Twit Award, which he shares with all those who brought him in as an expert witness. LGBTQ Nation has this story.

Utah state Representative Ken Ivory, who wrote the law allowing parents to challenge whether certain books should be in school libraries, says he is “sad” that one parent has used the law to challenge the Bible. For a double standard, and for refusing to admit that there are some stories in the Bible which are not all that wholesome, Utah state Representative Ken Ivory gets a Twit Award. This story comes from LGBTQ Nation.

We mentioned in the news how Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey imposed an 18-month waiting period before a minor is allowed to begin gender-affirming care, a medical procedure which the politician declared to be “experimental.” Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has no medical background or training, yet is here making the law that doctors must follow. For failing to recognize how inadequate his background is to make such decisions, and for insisting that his training as a lawyer and politician beats the knowledge of actual doctors, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey gets a Twit Award. You can read about this in Them.
