Hi…what hair removal techniques did u use? Was it laser, and is that safe?
Oct 24, 2021 at 1:46 am #60253nqtransParticipantThanks to several posters on makeup tips, wish I had joined this forum much earlier – could have avoided some poor choices. I am fairly new to spending more time as a woman than as a man.
I stumbled onto Sally Hansen Insta-Dri (suggested by someone here) – nice finish and fairly cheap. I have often forgotten to take off red finger nail polish before pretending to be male again. A few people have clearly noticed, but haven’t said anything. I have nail polish remover at work now, for when I do forget. I’ve been wearing blue nail polish on my feet for a few months now (almost 24×7), got a few questions early on, but most people have got used to it now. Blue & black seem to be a “safe” colours, but red makes me feel prettier.
I wear pantyhose/stockings almost every day. When questioned, I’ve simply said that I wear stocking socks for comfort with my very snug-fitting bicycle shoes, where thin is recommended. So far, everyone has accepted this.
I’m lucky in that my shoulders/arms aren’t very masculine, so I can wear tight-fitting sleeved dresses/blouses easily. However, I still tend to buy clothes that have some stretch in them. I often go out in public wearing women’s shorts – tighter fitting ones seem to go unnoticed in my experience.
Unfortunately, I fairly well endowed down below. Wearing lace/feminine panties back-to-front gives decent security in front and a brazilian bikini look at the back. The latter works for me, I’ve had quite a lot of positive body comments in regards to my rear.
Bras are a challenge for me – made many online purchases that simply don’t fit. I’ve found sports bras are the safest and easiest to put on, if you can put up with tight. Trans-women with more muscular/thicker upper bodies may have more difficulty than I have. I recently purchased a strapless, underwire bra that works for me.
I have a large head and haven’t yet found a wig that fits comfortably. I am trying to grow my natural hair long now.

They are a challenge when going to the bathroom or using the keyboard, and they require a lot of maintenance, but it is worth the effort! It’s no secret that women who wear long nails do this to look attractive, they are very confident, they know what they want and pursue, and they are risk takers – they know how to look after a broken nail or one hook feels like it, but they choose to go with it.
I take Biotin. For women who like long nails, Biotin is their best friend. This makes my nails are as hard as diamonds. I have no problem growing them for as long as I want. My nails were “long” for many years, about three times as long as they were wide. After meeting my partner, she encouraged me to trim my nails to a shorter length for obvious reasons. We compromised and I shortened them to a medium length (roughly twice as long as it is wide), and I keep the tips in an oval shape. And I always promise to be careful.

Nov 14, 2022 at 2:12 pm #65524mizzhoopzParticipantHey,
I went right into starting electrolysis. I started with a woman who used the the galvanic current and it felt like zaps directly into my skin where the hair grew. When she moved locations, I looked for someone closer who used the blend method, which mixes galvanic current with heat so it continues to work in the root of the hair, even after the session is done. The blend method is also more tolerable during sessions. I chose to skip laser because I knew that I would end up having to go to an electrolygist anyways. It took me about, 3 years maybe, until there was a complete halt in hair growth. That was around 2015 or 2016. I’ve gone for maybe two touch ups since then.
Nov 14, 2022 at 2:20 pm #65525mizzhoopzParticipantHey Pauline,
I know it’s a late reply, but I’m new. You can definitely find press on nails in an array of different styles and colors. You just have to find a brand that is a good fit for the size of your nails. I never really used them because I never found any that could fit the proportions of my nail plates, and acrylic and gel nail enhancements have really taken a toll on my nails over the years. So, I just opt to using natural polish and keeping up with them.
Nov 14, 2022 at 3:04 pm #65526mizzhoopzParticipantHello,
So I’ve been on hormone therapy for the past 10 years and I’m 30 years old. Here are some tips that I’ve found that have worked for me when it came to passing and wearing make up:
Foundation:
I’ve found that using a foundation that has either a satin or skin finish worked best for my skin(Combination oily the first 3 years of HRT, now Combination dry) and blended from the center of the face outward to give the most natural and skin like finish so I didn’t end up with cake face or look overdone. Also, for oily skin users a Matte foundation buffed in will look more skin like as it blends with your oils.Concealer:
I found that using utilizing Bobbi Browns technique of layering little bits of different types of concealer onto each other gave me the best and most natural looking coverage. Let’s use the eye area as an example. If I was using a liquid foundation I would apply some of that under my eyes thinly, as foundation these days gives such good coverage. I would then take my favorite concealer in one shade lighter, or with an undertone that would correct the tone of my under eye imperfections and apply a thin layer. I would then take a powder mineral concealer to give additional coverage, as well as set whatever liquid or cream product I have just applied and blended. My favorite is the Summer bisque powder concealer from bare minerals. This would give me a nice coverage without having to apply tons of concealer.Contouring:
I use to love contouring, but as time went on, the more and more I didn’t appreciate how it took away from my natural look. Countering can be done nicely when the right products are utilized. I personally like to utilize darker foundations with the correct undertone to contour, rather than opting to bronzers. These days contour pallets are readily available for purchase and have more natural appearance. However, I cannot attest to them for the simple fact that contour palettes didn’t exist and weren’t available when I was contouring. At least to my knowledge they weren’t.Eye’s:
Making your eyes more feminine, really depends on the shape of your eyes and what style of eye shadowing and lining makes your eyes look most feminine. I myself had small deepest almond eyes. I had to be very careful how much dark colors I used and how thick of a line I did my liner so they wouldn’t look smaller and barely open. What I’ve realized throughout my journey is the most feminine and passable looking make up, is make up that makes your skin look as natural and healthy which brings me to my skin care tip:
Skin Care:
Skin care is the most crucial and important step when it comes to passing and applying make up. Healthy, radiant and glowing skin, is feminine skin. Understanding your skin type and sensitivities is crucial to getting the most passable looking make up. If you don’t know your skin type, you won’t know which products will work best for your skin. *First and foremost, the most important and #1 rule will always and forever be to drink plenty of water and get plenty of rest!* You can always seek a professional’s opinion, such as an esthetician or dermatologist. Once you know and understand your skin type you will know which cleansing products and moisturizers to search for. You may also notice that with HRT(if applies) will also change the condition of your skin. My skin definitely changed while on Hormone therapy. When I started it was originally combination oily, where it was normal on the sides of my face and oily through the center(also known as the T zone). As the next few years passed, and HRT was affecting my biology more, I noticed my skin got dryer, and the skin care products that had been working for me had started to become less and less effective, and I needed to use more and more of it. This made my cosmetic bill shoot sky high. Which made me opt to changing my whole skin care and make up routine and products.
Once skin care is taken care of and a skin care regimen is set into motion, its time to seek the advice of a professional make up artist. You can consult with someone online via video chat or walk in to a make up booth to get matched for foundation and concealer tones. Ask for samples to see how products wear on your face. A little trick I use to do, which may require some determination, is to go to the same make up brand stores in different location’s or malls and ask for samples of the same products so you can have a longer testing period before you commit to a product.Your Attitude:
What an elder of mine once told me is, “Be feel and dress the way you want to feel, not the way you feel.” Your attitude about your transition is crucial to tying everything above together. Even on your worst days, It is important to dress and make yourself to make yourself feel good, happy feminine, and sexy. The you must let the femininity within you, radiate outwards is you can exude the beautiful sophisticated woman that your are. Treat yourself, take yourself out to eat, dress up just because you know you’re beautiful and feminine, where your favorite perfume. Just allow yourself to bask your femininity and beauty.xoxo

Mar 18, 2023 at 10:34 am #66793This WreckageParticipantFoundation colour: I’m 57, British and have not yet had any modifications such as hair removal or HRT. I want to choose a colour corrector to hide my light beard shadow, the obvious bluish tone which even close shaving doesn’t eliminate. I’ve been advised to try Mehron CreamBlend sticks (American, but I found them at Stage Door theatrical makeup site). As I have never had anyone advise me on what shade to use, how do I choose? I don’t want to waste money on something that is the wrong shade, and I don’t want to go to my local Boots makeup counter under false pretences to ask their staff to help!
Mar 18, 2023 at 10:37 am #66794This WreckageParticipantThank you for that constructive comment, Jens. I take it that you have never seen a pantomime here in the UK…?
Apr 2, 2023 at 10:31 am #66912AlleviParticipantWow, so many tips on clothing and makeup! I like learning how to paint beautifully because it makes me feel more confident. I also want to lose weight in order to look attractive to myself, but I’m afraid to go to the gym, because I can build muscle where I don’t need it. Therefore, while I try cardio training – I use a treadmill, I ride a bike Tomasso. Let’s see what comes of it
