Hello, everyone. I am a 65-year-old transgender female who transitioned about 2.5 years ago. (Better late than never.) Last summer, I was also diagnosed as being on the high-functioning end of the autism spectrum, once known as Asperger’s Syndrome.

My transgender advisor/therapist was aware of the connection between transgenderism and autism. She recommended that I be evaluated for autism. It turns out she was right.

I have read a couple of books from people who are both transgender and autistic. Now I am looking for Internet-based support groups for people in this situation. I have not found anything yet, so I would like to ask the community if they know of any such groups.

Hello!

My name is Julie and I am from the Czech republic. In this moment, I am conducting research that looks into autism and gender dysphoria. For the second phase of the research, I am looking for volunteers who were officially diagnosed with autism/Asperger’s syndrome. You must be over 16 years of age and you are transgender, gender fluid, variant or you have simply difficulties with understanding your gender identity.

It would be an interview about this topic (for example own gender perception, perception of gender roles, the development of gender identity). The interview would take approximately 45-60 mins (it may vary) and it can be done either via Skype or via email (I would send you questions and you would write answers).

For the analysis purpose, the interview must be recorded. However, all information will be anonymised and data are going to be used only for the research purpose and recordings will be destroyed after publishing the research. In the published paper there won’t be mentioned a real name and other info that can be sensitive.

I would be over the moon if you were a part of this research!

Hi to all my brother and sisters ,,
I’m Tinalynn and I was born with Asperger’s Syndrome,
I was disguised with it about 15 years ago.
And doing my best to cope with it ,,having few persons I work around
including one security guard that is a father of Autistic child make a lot easier
my biggest hurdle has to be being able to communication a specially comes to
dating.
looking back as teen I think that was why I had a hard time asking girls out
for dates and also why I got turned down so much because the subconscious
habits I had that others feel uncomfortable to be around me.
And recently I learned that medicare and medicaid will not consulting
to help me deal with this.
so I’m left what am-I to do.
for the most I have to go alone with my transitioning with any support
from my family.
And now looks like I have to go along with coping my Asperger’s.

Hi, sorry I don’t think I can offer anything helpful in the way of advice or resources. I am not trans, although I do have high-functioning autism (a condition I continue to learn new things about) so naturally I’m curious; there’s a connection between Transgenderism and autism? What kind of connection?
