Rau was born in Paris in 1990 and is of Algerian descent. She had gender confirmation surgery when she was 16. She lived as a woman without divulging her gender status until the age of 24. She became the second transgender woman to be featured in Playboy after Tula in 1981, and the first who came out voluntarily. She was Playmate of the Month in the November/December 2017 issue of Playboy.
