Governor Roy Cooper of North Carolina vetoed three bills which are aimed at transgender people. One of those bills forbade transgender females from participating in school athletics, another banned gender-affirming care for minors, and the third prevented the discussion of gender identity in elementary school. Although the session is officially over, a special session could be called to override the governor’s veto. There are votes to override the veto, at least in theory.
