In 1974, members of Boston’s Cherrystones support group read about what was most likely the first organized convention for crossdressers and transsexuals in the U.S. Unfortunately, it was three thousand miles away, in the Pacific Northwest. Thus Fantasia Fair, now Trans Week, was born.
Fantasia Fair is a conference, convergence, trans event that is a week-long held in Provincetown, Massachusetts every October. This year FanFair became TransWeek. The gathering on Cape Cod has been happening since 1975. Attendees have all week to be themselves and participate in planned and unplanned activities. There are speeches, dancing, whale watching and more to fill the week. Today Rhonda Williams reviews everything that happened if TransWeek 2022.

It took her s few weeks to get settled down from the feelings of liberation and peace that she found there so it’s taken till now for her to share her report with us.
It’s July already and that means that the longest running, longest duration transgender event is rapidly approaching. It’s Fantasia Fair on Cape Cod and while it doesn’t happen till mid October you know you have to plan ahead, picking out every outfit for each day’s many activities. Hebe Dotson hadn’t been out of the house in women’s clothing, at all, until she went to Fantasia Fair last year at the age of 80. This year she went back. She has photos to prove it, and after the Fair she had epiphany #2. Why not dress full time?
