Roxanne Needs Your Help
A film maker in Britain has launched a Kickstarter campaign to finance his film about a trans sex worker who begins her journey to self acceptance after she intervenes to save a homeless child from a dangerous situation on the streets of London.
Award winning freelance writer and director Paul Frankl has written Roxanne, a story aimed at raising the visibility of trans women who often have no choice to earn a living but sex work, due to the high cost of changing gender and the difficultly of obtaining “regular” jobs in a labor market that most often views TGs in a bad light.
Roxanne, a twenty minute short film, will open with the title character, played by Miss Cairo, isolated and alone behind walls of her own creation. Helping the homeless little girl, reaching out to help someone else, will create a break in Roxanne’s armor and as she bonds with the child she begins to change in positive ways.
Frankl has obtained a promise for three fourths of the funding he needs to shoot the film but he needs to raise close to $17,000 to produce a high quality film. If he does not raise the rest of the money the promise of three quarters will go away. To that end he has initiated the Kickstarter campaign. This is your chance to be an executive producer, or at least a theatrical “angel” and help Frankl bring this story of Roxanne to the silver screen.
