Hi. Miss me? Even notice I was gone? Sorry about missing last month, but I’ve been dealing with issues, such as possibly having Long Covid. (I wrote about this in my blog, so won’t repeat here.)

Part of me wants to write about the new law in Tennessee, which, being poorly worded, means that a transgender woman could be arrested for appearing on the street. Then again, so could Dolly Parton. I guess there will be no showings of Mrs. Doubtfire in Tennessee for a while.

Another part of me wants to write about Michael Knowles, who has a show on the Daily Wire. He said “The problem with transgenderism is not that it’s inappropriate for children under the age of 9. The problem with transgenderism is that it isn’t true… If [transgenderism] is false, then for the good of society… transgenderism must be eradicated from public life entirely,” he said. The crowd at CPAC went wild.

Eradicated. According to the OED, that means “destroy completely; put an end to.” He just called for the extermination of the estimated 1.6 million transgender people in the USA. And the MAGA loving loonies cheered like this was a great idea.

The word you’re looking for now is “Genocide.”

I’ll spare you what others, including MTG had to say, but make no mistake, transgender women are the current boogeyman, not drag queens. As if we didn’t have enough problems.

“But Sophie,” you ask, “aren’t these just fringe elements of the GQP?” Not any more they aren’t. Look at the law passed in Tennessee. This is the core of the GQP, and they want blood: Our Blood.

What can we do? We voted in November and yet this is still happening. I don’t know at this point. Some of the gentlest people I know have taken to arming themselves, just in case. I think at this point, all we can do is keep getting our stories out there, and protest where and when you can. (Heck, even HRC is denouncing the TN law, so it must be seriously bad). Actually, the HRC website has some great ideas on actions you can take.
