The FE Dance Party

First Event 2013, themed We’ve Only Just Begun, was held January 23-27, 2013 in Peabody Massachusetts, and was attended by a large group of people from all over the gender spectrum. Attendance grew at least 20% over FE2012 in all areas, including our second year Day of Wellness and Beauty. Whether manicures or massage, consultations ranging from fashion to facials to brain wave functions, it really started off First Event with a bang. Tiffany’s Closet — our consignment shop — was also a huge success.

Workshop tracks included our growing FtM track as well as new tracks for trans-youth, families and spirituality. Each area showed increased participation and attendance. Our evening entertainments included our Cabaret revue and First Event’s Fabulous Fashion Show that included over 40 models from both the MtF and FtM community. Our annual banquet was amazing, starting out with a wedding and then our Keynote speaker Amanda Simpson stirred everyone with her talk on being authentic. We had the great gender bending troupe All the King’s Men finish the night off on a high note.

Of course, no evening at First Event would be complete without our incredible dance party each evening hosted by the amazing DJ Greg Powers.

At First Event 2013, people all over the gender spectrum came together to learn, grow and have fun together. We continue working to enhance the One Community concept and we truly are only in the beginning stages of this effort. Feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive and we are looking to continue our growth and provide resources for growth, education and oh yes! — for having a great time!

We are looking to make FE14 even better! FE14’s theme is Who Do You Want to be when You Grow Up? The entire FE team will be back next year and keep an eye out for us on the Web.
