As we mentioned in the news, polling shows that voters trust the Democrats more on transgender issues, by a nearly two-to-one margin. Yet, as LGBTQ Nation points out that the Republicans are turning to ads saying that the Democrats want to “trans your children,” President Trump seems incapable of holding a rally at which he does not bring up his very false accusation that schools are pushing medical transitions on students, without the involvement of the parents. For relying on a completely untrue narrative, the Republicans get a TWIT.
Some Democrats, especially in states where the Republican party has been dominant, have taken to siding with Republicans on at least some issues of transgender rights. Josh Turek, a state representative from Iowa, is running an ad entitled, “Stop the Nonsense,” which takes a stand against transgender rights. For picking on a community which is already picked on by others, and for lacking sympathy, Josh Turek and other Democrats who are running anti-transgender ads get a TWIT. The National Institute of Justice, a part of the Justice Department which focuses on research, has initiated a search for research which would tie transgender people to violent behaviour. For not letting the data speak for itself, and for insisting on a spin which blames the victim, the National Institute of Justice, and the Trump administration which staffed it, get a TWIT.
