At a U.S. Senate hearing on transgender women in women’s athletics, the name of Lia Thomas came up several times. Ms. Thomas graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, and even if she came back as a graduate student, she has used up her athletic eligibility. As the (accurate) meme tells us, there are fewer transgender athletes in the NCAA than there are dollars in the price of a gallon of diesel fuel. The chairman of the Senate committee, Senator Chuck Grassley, says that the Senate Democrats have not proven that transgender women should be allowed in sports, yet scientific studies show that transgender women do not have an automatic advantage at sports over cisgender women. For bringing up an example which is no longer relevant, for wasting the Senate’s time trying to solve a problem which no longer exists, and for ignoring the problems facing Americans today, the Senate committee gets a TWIT. The New York Post features a story promoting a new study, one which claims that the murders of Black transgender women are really domestic violence by intimate partners. That seems to be true enough, as far as it goes, but the people behind the study seem to not care to then ask if this is an unusually high rate of domestic violence by an intimate partner. For not taking this study to its conclusion, the people behind this study get a TWIT.
Senator Tommy Tuberville said in a speech that, “Transgenderism is a mental disease.” In the same speech, he made a reference to furries flying airplanes. For creating a problem which does not exist in order to treat a group of people unequally, Senator Tommy Tuberville gets a TWIT. This story comes from LGBTQ Nation.
Representative Marcy Kaptur, a Democrat from Ohio, has started airing ads in which she does not approve of “transgender ideology.” In spite of this, she has been endorsed by the Human Rights Campaign by the Equality Caucus. For endorsing a candidate who uses the language of the opposition to express an agreement with them against civil rights, the Equality Caucus and the Human Rights Campaign get a TWIT.
