As we reported in the news, the American Academy of Pediatrics issued a new statement of support for gender-affirming care for minors diagnosed with gender dysphoria. And yet, an article in Public Discourse is entitled, “The Transgender Movements House of Cards Is Falling.” In the article, the author states, “A growing number of doctors, patients, and whistleblowers are beginning to question the medical establishment’s recommendations for children with gender dysphoria.” Nowhere is the actual source of this information revealed, especially the statement that more doctors disagree with gender-affirming medical care. (It could be that more doctors are expressing their disagreement, but where is the study to show that?) The author of the article is Emilie Kao, who is a senior counsel with the Alliance Defending Freedom. For wishful thinking, and for not citing sources, as well as for repeating misinformation about what gender-affirming care is, Emilie Kao gets a Twit Award.

In their story about the American Academy of Pediatrics restating their support for gender-affirming care, The Daily Mail spent more time telling of detransitioners, one at a time, than of the group and its support. For failing to listen to experts, and for using this as an excuse to repeat poor arguments and misinformation, the Daily Mail gets a Twit Award.

Dr. Martens made two pairs of custom boots with a design that indicates support for transgender people. The artist who designed the boots received one pair, and the only other pair produced were given away to the winner of a contest. Nonetheless, LGBTQ Nation reports that some anti-transgender activists are saying that these two pairs of boots show support for “removing the healthy breasts of girls.” For jumping on any excuse to repeat bad logic, Tiffany Justice, co-founder of Moms For Liberty, and others making this an issue get a Twit Award.

Former Vice President Mike Pence said in an interview that, if he becomes president, he would ban transgender people from serving in the military. “Having transgender personnel, I believe, erodes unit cohesion in a unique way,” he said. The Pentagon conducted studies before agreeing to lift the ban, and they came to the conclusion that it would not cause such a problem. They have not found a real problem with “unit cohesion” since then. For using a nonexistent problem as an excuse to ban some people from military service, former Vice President Mike Pence gets a Twit Award. PinkNews has this story.

Ashley and Sean Willey are suing their local school district, for using their child’s preferred pronoun and name without their permission. They claim, in addition to their religious rights and their rights as parents to decide how to raise their child, a right to privacy which they say is being violated. However, they are violating that privacy by going public with this lawsuit. For bad logic, Ashley and Sean Willey get a Twit Award. This story comes from LGBTQ Nation.

As we mentioned in the news, the Harrison County School District in Mississippi issued a new dress code for students, which uses gender assigned on the student’s birth certificate as the determination of what they can wear. For reinforcing the gender binary in its code, and for ignoring the gender identity of its students, as well as violating the principles of small government and more individual decisions, the Harrison County School District gets a Twit Award. Newsweek has this story.
