Do you remember the commercial?  In 1997, during the Super Bowl, Holiday Inn ran a spot where the central theme was about a post-op TS.  I’d forgotten about it, until MSNBC named it one of the worst ever.

If you’ve never seen it, or want to see it again, YouTube has you covered.

The MSNBC ranking says GLBT groups were outraged.  I wasn’t.  I don’t know why they would be.  It shows a beautiful woman with the guts to return to her high school reunion and show everyone how she’s changed.  How is that a negative stereotype???

If I recall correctly, it was the religious right who protested…

It was about a person who didn’t want to just “blend in” to society. It was about a person who wanted to remain “transsexual” even after an apparent full transition.

It was about a person who wanted to rub themselves into the noses of their past.

Many of us miss high school reunions and the like simply because we do not want to “out” ourselves.

There is more to life. Some of us did not do what we felt we needed to do just to pull stunts like that.
