NCTE Welcomes Two New Staff Members
Washington, D.C. — After four years of service, the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) is saying goodbye to their friend and colleague Stephanie White, NCTE’s Managing Director. Before joining NCTE, Stephanie White served as the National Field Director and then Deputy Director of the Rights Working Group, an immigrant rights advocacy organization. Stephanie will be moving home to Michigan with her wife and son.
NCTE Executive Director Mara Keisling said, “Stephanie brought a much needed perspective to NCTE. Her breadth of experience in racial justice and environmental movements provided NCTE with the knowledge and skills we needed to be a bold leader for transgender equality. Her contributions have made us a more efficient organization, and she is leaving NCTE behind with a bigger budget and a stronger team to help us land larger political victories for transgender people. The staff and board of NCTE are indebted to her for her service.”
As NCTE bids Stephanie farewell, they are also welcoming two new staff members: Avory Faucette as Director of Operations, and Danielle King as Development Manager. Avory joins NCTE from the National Research Center for Women & Families. Zie is an accomplished writer and activist with hir work appearing in Feministing, Feministe, and RH Reality Check. Avory is an honors graduate from the University of Iowa College of Law and is a queer and feminist legal scholar. Zie oversees NCTE’s finances and operations.
A prominent DC activist and recognized speaker on race, gender, sexuality, and health, Danielle King joins NCTE as the Development Manager. Danielle’s local work spans across chairing the Capital Transgender Pride Alliance to serving as the current Vice President of DC Black Pride. Danielle was also a sales manager at the Washington Blade. Danielle is a graduate of Old Dominion University and is a classically trained vocalist. She oversees NCTE’s special events and fundraising.
Keisling said, “In no small part [do] to Stephanie’s hard work, we were able to bring in two talented people to meet our growing needs. Avory brings the organizational management skills needed to lead a smart team, and Danielle has a record of driving resources to the issues that matter to transgender people. Both fill crucial roles for NCTE, and we are lucky to have them.”
