We’ve not paid much attention to the show Glee. Last time we thought about it was when they sparked some kind of controversy over doing a tribute to The Rocky Horror Show but they didn’t have anyone in the cast do drag. Our attention was captured when we learned that last week the show introduced a transgender character. Unique is her name and she makes her debut performing the song Boogie Shoes. Unique and her male persona Wade, are portrayed by Alex Newell. Alex won the role by auditioning on YouTube for The Glee Project, the Glee farm team so to speak, and being a runner up in that competition. He was introduced on Glee recently and performed for the first time as Unique last week. Check out the performance. And yes, that’s his voice.
