The Artist D is Deep in Duality

The world needs anger as much as it needs love. It’s the yin and yang of everything. If not for the darkness you would see no light. If not for the light you would not long for darkness. You wouldn’t know it was there and there would be no longing. We long for what is not there anymore. We long to get something back to enjoy it all over again. Some of us live for that feeling and most of us don’t even know that.

I’m always intrigued by people who shun the complete opposite. Of what? Of anything. The do-gooders who battle against evil and demand pure white light. The White Witches who banish the darkness from their kingdoms. The Democrats who cannot allow themselves to agree with anything a Republican says (and vice versa).

I’ve always been a proponent of rage. There is a lot of positive to be said about the negative. Rage is what propelled a lot of us as young people. I used to be so angry! Everyone I know used to be so angry. We fought so hard to get out of the shadows and be accepted. We were angry that we were not accepted and so we carried on. I found I floundered the most when I lost my rage. To become complacent and accepting can sometimes be a death knell.

Those “Old People” who still have their teenage rage are some of the most fabulous people I know. Rage is a helpful tool if used correctly. You of course cannot let it overcome you. You must become the ballistic missile and yet make sure you do not burn up within the explosion.

There are so many people out there who think they must be good. They have to flounce around in the white angelic fairy dress and dance in the sunlight. All of the time! They are convinced that there is no truth, no goodness or point, in the darkness.

And yet those purely angelic beings among us burn out so quickly due to their inability to walk gracefully in the Shit Show known as life. The world needs all kinds. The world requires pure unicorn riding creatures just as much as it needs the dark knight (no, not Batman).

My advice to you would be to not always shun everything about the other side. There is truth found scattered all around. As we are no more than an explosion of everything we ever wanted to be. Channel your inner Rage Monkey. And if you are a dark evil creature toiling in the shadows then please phone a glitter encrusted unicorn, every once and awhile.

Be the Yin Yang. Too much of either and you’re dancing on your own.
