On Wednesday, June 12, the first floor of The William Way LGBT Community Center in Philadelphia, Pa. was rocking to a dope DJ laying down a heavy dance groove. Fortunately a hostess was on hand to guide those who were looking for Dr. Michele Angello’s book release party. That event was in the second floor  ballroom. The space was needed because members of the LGBT community and their allies came flocking in to be there for the launch of Dr. Angello’s first book.

The title of her labors is On The Couch with Dr. Angello: A Guide to Raising & Supporting Transgender Youth. The title gives more than a hint about the book’s theme. The upswing in awareness of transgender issues in the past decade has produced more awareness among young people, some very young, that they are different from  the majority of people on the planet. They have a gender identity that doesn’t match the body they were born with. As more of these children appear the need for a guide book became apparent. Dr. Angello, who has been working with young people who are differently gendered for 13 years, and has been a contributor to TGForum, has written that guidebook. We will bring you a full review of the book soon. If you can’t wait for the review and want to buy a copy you can make your purchase on Dr. Angello’s website.

Here are some photos from Dr. Angello’s successful book release party.
