Agency Seeking TG Models — MtF & FtM
Could you be the next Andrej Pejic?
EDITOR’S NOTE: This post is from 2013. The agency was casting for Barney’s spring 2014 ad campaign. There is no indication that the agency is still interested in seeing TG models.
TGForum was contacted last week by a casting agency in New York that is looking for transgendered models for an ad campaign for a major luxury retailer. Barney’s, Saks 5th Avenue. They won’t say who the client is because they don’t want someone to steal the idea. But the models who are cast will be wearing designer outfits from Lanvin, Givenchy, Balenciaga and Saint Laurent. They will also be paid for the shoot and get travel and lodgings included. The only catch is you must meet the size requirements. So, everyone on the femme side who wear over a size 2 can stop reading now. The FtM size requirement is a 38-40 slim cut suit. And the age range for this is 16 to 25. We bet if you fit the size requirement and don’t look over 25 they’ll let you slid on your actual age. The deadline to submit for the job is October 14th. Good luck!
Here is the slightly edited email we got from JVBInc:
My name is Janjay and I work at a casting agency in NYC called JV8Inc (www.jv8inc.com). I’m coming to you because we have a very unique project for transgender men and women for one of the most preeminent luxury retailers in the world. The idea is to shoot beautiful transgender women and men between ages 16-25. The hard part is we need women who fit a 0-2 and men who fit a 38-40 slim suit. This is a paid project ($1000) and shoots in NYC the first week of November in NYC. We will also pay for flights + accommodations so people don’t need to be from New York and we can even fly as far as Europe or Canada or South America.
The campaign will feature designers like Lanvin, Givenchy, Balenciaga, Saint Laurent, etc and is being shot by one of the most celebrated and well known photographers in the world.
In addition there will be storytelling element in which people will be able to tell their personal story. I believe this is an excellent platform for the transgender community and I take this campaign as a hopeful sign that we are moving in the right direction.
My hope is that you might be able to recommend people (or yourself) or help us spread the word throughout the country so people can submit themselves. We plan on shooting as many men and women as possible so there isn’t a specific number we’re casting.
Our deadline is October 14th.

I am sure that if this casting call posting called for TGs up to size 20 that the flood of applicants would have crashed the system.
