The Ohio Secretary of State has revised the forms for candidates running for office. They now specifically say that a candidate must include all legal names used int he last five years on a petition. Nominating petitions for Vanessa Joy, a transgender woman, were rejected because she did not include her deadname The Hill has this story.

The Republicans have released a list of their top priorities. One of those priorities is to redefine “sex” in Title IX to be tied to “a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.” This would directly impact all transgender students, not just transgender athletes. The House of Representatives passed its initial rules package, and the restriction of restroom use in the Capitol according to “biological sex” is not in the package. Representative Nancy Mace had proposed such a ban. This story comes from Them.

State lawmakers in Ohio passed a bill which would force teachers to tell parents if their child comes out at LGBTQ at school, and also would allow parents to excuse their child from classes where “sexuality content” is taught. LGBTQ Nation has this story.

Eight Los Angeles police officers have been dismissed from the force because of their involvement in the beating of a transgender man. Joseph Benza III was seen on video beating Emmett Brock. Seven other officers were dismissed for participating in a scheme to cover up the incident. This story comes from Them.

A transgender woman, Riya Young Suising, has qualified for running in the Boston marathon as a woman. The marathon has a non-binary category as well, but Riya Young Suising chose to run as a woman, and has an acceptable time in another qualifying marathon. Spun has this story.

We have told you how Squid Game Season 2 has a transgender character played by a cisgender performer. This week, we find that Sushant Divgikr, a genderfluid performer who dubbed the voice of that transgender character into Hindi, donated part of the paycheck for that role to Dr. Ruth John Paul, the first transgender woman in India to be admitted to a postgraduate medical program.
