The film Stardust is just the kind of fantasy film that I love. It features a wall (plain old stone) that divides our world from another world that is both magical and similar to our own. But, it doesn’t have dragons of a cute or vicious bent, no massive barbarians with giant broadswords, and none of that the-entire-world-is-gonna-end-if-we-don’t-get-this-damned-ring- back-to-the-volcano. What it does have is great witches (really charmingly evil), aRobert De Niro in Stardust fallen star who happens to be a beautiful young woman, a load of back stabbing royals who are more funny after they’re dead and a plot that derives from things that happened in the past and have been percolating along for many years.

But, what’s the point of writing about Stardust in a TG Forum blog? Aside from the presence of Michelle Pfeiffer as the really evil witch—a roleMichelle Pfeiffer in Stardust model for us all—and the rest of the brilliant cast which includes Robert De Niro, Ricky Gervais, Claire Daines and Peter O’Toole among others, what’s in it for us TGs?

As much as I’d straight out love to tell you exactly why the film is friendly to TGs, to do so would ruin the experience for you. It’s just gotta be a surprise. So, go to the film—some critics have hailed it as a good date movie—and get your popcorn, settle back and prepare to get entertained. It’s fun and definitely TG friendly.
